Who doesn’t love a good burger? When my boys asked if I could make them some Slider Burgers I knew it was time to come up with something REALLY GOOD! These’s tasty little burgers with Colby Jack cheese & Caramelized Onions were a big hit!
You want to make sure you use a good quality, soft roll. The first time I made these I used Kings Hawaiian Rolls. They were good but not exactly the right flavor. Then I found St. Pierre Brioche Slider Rolls in the bakery section of my local grocery store. They were perfect! These rolls were soft, fresh, and as a bonus, they contain NO GMO’S, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, artificial colors, or palm. Score 1 for mom!
You’ll notice the Caramelized Onion recipe seems to use A LOT of onion, but they shrink a lot while they’re cooking. You want to make sure you have enough to spread across all the slider burgers without skimping. If you do happen to have any left over, they are fantastic on top of Mac-N-Cheese, or even a salad (and that’s coming from someone who does not like onions!).
Enjoy!
These sliders are perfect to serve with some gooey Mac-N-Cheese or paired with Homemade Coleslaw!
Slider Burgers with Caramelized Onions
These tasty Sliders pair perfectly with gooey Mac-N-Cheese or Homemade Coleslaw
Ingredients
Sliders
- 18 Brioche Slider Rolls
- 3 lbs Ground Beef, I use 80/20
- 1 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Season Salt
- 1/4 tsp Ground Pepper
- 4 1/2 slices Colby Jack Cheese, cut in fourths
- 4 Tbs Butter, melted
- 2 Tbs Parsley, minced
Caramelized Onions
- 6 Medium, White Onions, sliced into thin strips
- 2 Tbs Olive Oil
- 2 Tbs Butter
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- 1 – 2 Tbs Water (optional)
Instructions
-
To caramelize the onions, heat oil & butter in a wide, thick bottomed pan on medium/high heat. Add onions and stir to thoroughly coat them with the oil & butter. Spread them out evenly in the pan. Let them cook for about 10 – 15 minutes, occasionally giving them a quick stir to keep them from sticking or burning.
-
Sprinkle onions with salt & sugar. Lower the heat to medium and continue cooking for 30 minutes. If the onions start to appear dry, you can add a tablespoon or two of water. Once the onions look browned, remove them from the heat and set aside.
-
Heat oven to 350°F.
-
To prepare the Sliders, place the ground beef in a medium mixing bowl. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, season salt, and pepper. Combine together (I use my hands but a spoon works too).
-
Divide meat mixture into 18 even balls and press into patties. The patties should be slightly bigger than the buns because they’ll shrink as they cook. You can cook the patties on a grill or add some oil to a skillet and cook thoroughly. Remove from heat.
-
Spray the bottom of a large, glass baking dish (mine is 11″x15″ and fits 18 rolls). Cut the rolls in half and lay the tops aside. I like to keep them attached to each other as much as possible so the bottoms create one large piece and the tops another. Place the bottoms in the prepared baking dish. Cover the entire dish so they stay together nicely. Place one patty in the center of each roll bottom, top with a cheese slice quarter, and a nice mount of caramelized onions.
-
Replace the tops, and brush each roll top with melted butter. Sprinkle with minced parsley.
-
Bake on the middle of the center rack in the oven for 20 mins. Serve warm
Recipe Notes
Be sure to prepare the Caramelized Onions first. They take about 45 minutes to caramelize.
