Round, smooth, and glossy, marbles come in many sizes and colors, and withstand the test of time with children for many generations. But this is a post about baking, isn’t it? It is! Here’s a quick and easy bakers trick.
So what do marbles have to do with baking? Let me show you.
Marbles are made from glass so they can withstand the high heat from an oven. This makes marbles a cheap, easy tool for transforming an ordinary cupcake pan into a holiday wonder.
Valentine’s Hearts
Valentine’s cupcakes are a great use of this fun bakers trick! Fill a cupcake liner 1/2 way and place a medium size marble between the paper liner and the cupcake pan to form a heart shaped cupcake.
Bake your cupcakes as usual (15 – 18 minutes at 350 degrees F). Be careful when removing the cupcakes. The since the marbles are glass they will get VERY hot.
St. Patrick’s Clovers
Want to add a little luck in your life? Try using 3 small marbles to create these darling Clover Cupcakes. It’s just one more way to use this fun bakers trick!
Don’t forget to add a little green food coloring to the cake mix to really bring out the inner Clover.
Bake your cupcakes as usual (15 – 18 minutes at 350 degrees F). Be careful removing the baked cupcakes from the pan. The glass marbles will be VERY hot.
Let the cupcakes cool completely before decorating with icing, fondant, sugar sprinkles, or whipped topping of your choice.
